Arathusa Safari Lodge is an intimate lodge with its open-plan design and natural building materials allowing it to blend harmoniously with the African bush surrounds. The main living area is intended for comfort. Whether quietly reflecting on the view, reading a marvellous book, or enjoying conversation with friends or fellow safari goers, the warmth and charm of the camp environment is the foundation of the Sabi Sands Arathusa safari experience. The infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing while cooling off on a sweltering African summer’s afternoon. Guests can enjoy an alfresco dining experience in the traditional open-air boma (a brick & grass enclosed dining area), while being serenaded by the sounds of Africa’s creatures. Sumptuous cuisine is the order of the day. Arathusa’s Safari Spa offers guests a comprehensive spa and wellness experience - indulge in luxurious pampering and relaxation, while answering to the call of the wild.
Arathusa has eight thatch-roofed standard rooms within its perimeter. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, with a bath and shower – as well as an outdoor shower. The veranda offers relaxing views of the surrounding veld. Twin rooms may also be arranged. The use of natural fabrics and classic interior design ensures a simple and elegant experience. Additional amenities include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities. In keeping with the traditional and natural safari experience, there are no televisions in the rooms at Arathusa. Guests are, however, able to send or receive e-mails and faxes from the reception area.
Arathusa also has four luxury rooms. They have all the comfort and amenities of our standard rooms, with the addition of their own plunge pools and lounge areas. These exclusive rooms are located further from the main camp to afford guests privacy.

Activities

Game drives, in an open safari vehicle, are conducted in the early morning and late afternoon every day in search of animals – both large and small. Experienced, knowledgeable and personable rangers are paired with local trackers, and together they ensure a first-class safari experience. Trackers sit up at the front of the vehicle looking for fresh animal tracks, while rangers skilfully navigate into ravines and through thickets in pursuit of fantastic game sightings. Close encounters are guaranteed, and the animals are not threatened by our presence thanks to our sound conservation management policies. Expect one-of-a-kind photographic opportunities of The Big Five, and much more – including over 300 bird species. A treat for keen birders! Guided walks with an armed ranger may also be arranged.
